What Causes Black Colored Diarrhea?

Question: I have had very Black colored hot watery Diarrhea over the past three days and nights. The toilet bowl looks like I filled it with back paint. I did not vomit, but felt close to doing that. Acid reflux also happened when lying down. At one point I go so sweaty that my butt nearly slipped off the toilet seat. I have never sweat so much! I have no appetite and have had only two small meals during that period. I have lost 6 pounds during this period. I am trying to drink liquids, Gatorade (for the electrolytes) and water, but don't feel thirsty. Should I go to the ER at the hospital? .. or give it some more time. I took some Pepto Bismol late into the first episode and that seemed to help, but only temporary. (The Diarreha was Black, before I took the Pepto Bismol.)

Yes you need to go to the ER, you may very well have an upper GI bleed

Welcome to HCM. Sorry to hear about your predicament. This diarrhea that is black I fear could be dried/clotted blood that has come from your stomach area. With the history of your acid reflux, you may have peptic ulcers that are now bleeding, this can be very serious if and when you lose enough blood, I would go in and have an evaluation.
