What Causes Black Out After Taking Montelukast?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Feb 2016
Question: I was rx'd Montelukast Sodium 10 mg QD, total 30 tabs x 2 refills. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and was having problems with my eyes. After taking this medication, I "checked" out mentally. I don't know what caused this, but "waking up" I found several days had passed. Only 4 tabs were taken over 4 days.

Is this side effect common??? This might be considered dangerous to people.

Brief Answer:
I will say stop and report this to your doctor!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this experience using montelukast. This is not a recognized side effect of this medication. However, I find it particularly severe and requires that the drug should be evaluated before any continuation. I will suggest you only take this drug if close supervision is possible. If this is impossible or difficult to arrange, let your doctor consider other treatment options available for this disease condition.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.
