default
Posted on Wed, 6 Apr 2016
Question: Hi doc

Male 26 had antibiotics 3 to 4 times last year. Also some anti inflammatory for dental pain dissolved in water. Got rid of pain prostatitis and also dental pain

Symptoms of bloatedness doctor said all linked to psychological.

bloods were fine no inflammation markers etc

When I wipe my waste material is it normal to have dark brown to black spots in it? They are smaller than pepper particles if that makes sense. Could this be foods I have ate?

I have did a home fecal test and all negative on a number of occasions x4 to be precise on different days. The feces is a bad odour but that is expected

I have put through a picture of the feces for your attention

Is it normal for a human being to ha e sometimes these little black spots in the feces? I take cod liver oil daily sometimes a multi vit

Please suggest foods for a better digestive system

Do have wind sometimes and also burping at times.

Brief Answer:
Yes it is normal to have black spots in stool

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am Dr.Amit Jain (DM, Gastroenterologist).

I have seen the picture you have uploaded. That appears to be normal. Some black spots may be due to diet you have taken

Do take fresh and vegetables and lots of fluid and fibres in your diet, take probiotics, this is most healthy diet advisable to anyone.

Avoid fatty, spicy and fried food. Also avoid Liquor, coffee, and cigarettes(if at all take). Do regular exercise.

Diet that is rich in fibre are whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruits.

Some of the food items are worth to mention which are very useful for digestve system are beet roots, apple, banana, sweet potato, oats, blue berries, cantaloupe, kiwi, papaya, peaches, tomato, cucumber, ginger, lemon water, yogurt, and XXXXXXX warm water.

For wind and burps I will further suggest you to:

1.Observe whether dairy products worsen this symptom then avoid dairy products
2. Don't take carbonated drinks
3. Avoid cabbage, beans, pulses
4. Take capsule of Simethicone thrice a day and Tab Gasex by Himalaya may be twice a day. Both are available OTC. Both I found very useful in my patients with wind and burp symptoms

I hope I have answered your query.
If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too.

Wish you a good health
Regards

Thank you very much for your answer sir it has given me reassurance.

I have uploaded 1 more picture for you to have a look at, why do you think these little Nit shaped things are nothing to worry out?

Could it be blood from anywhere within the digestive system or would the stools be able to tell?

The reason why I was worried about bleeding internally is due to my n saids and antibiotic treatment. I Have had a physical examination from a doctor where he checked my abdomen.

Would you be sure this is nothing like slow blood? What appearances would be associated with this and ulcer like symptoms?

My system was a bit uncomfortable after antibiotics but my stool is much better now and getting much better.

Awaiting your reply please comment on the picture sir

These are my final questions and I have performed a fecal blood test at home but wanted to have your opinion on this matter as you are a specialist is this seen with most human beings?(black particles)

Thank you sir

Also I've noticed these for a few days now. Never checked before? Is it just normal for these to be there Continiously it is a small amount never checked before

Thanks

Also.suggest something regarding passing gas frequently flatulence thanks is this also normal

Brief Answer:
It is normal in appearance

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and sorry for delay

I have seen the image you have uploaded

I want to reassure you that if there had been bleeding inside then the whole stool will look like tarry black stool, and not simply some spots. So keep cool, this is due to diet intake. Above all faecal test were also normal

For passing gas and flatulence I have already suggested above:
1.Observe whether dairy products worsen this symptom then avoid dairy products
2. Don't take carbonated drinks
3. Avoid cabbage, beans, pulses
4. Take capsule of Simethicone thrice a day and Tab Gasex by Himalaya may be twice a day. Both are available OTC. Both I found very useful in my patients with wind and burp symptoms

Before closing my concerns were regarding the anti inflammatory and antibiotics. What are the symptoms of a ulcer?

Could it be caused? Also can you tell by stool if you have one or not. H pylori test was negative. Is H pylori present when there is any ulcer in the body?

doctor
Answered by Dr. Amit Jain (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
h.pylori is one of the cause of ulcer so it is not present in all ulcer

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Yes anti-inflammatory agent especially of NSAID class and some of the antibiotics may cause ulcers.

There is no stool test which can tell whether there is ulcer or not.

Symptom of ulcer will depend on the location of the ulcer in gi tract. But common symptoms are abdominal pain, which may be aggravated by food intake, pain is moderate to severe, can cause bleeding either from mouth or per rectal bleed.

There are many causes for ulcer and h.pylori is one of them. Others are drug induced, stress ulcer, ischaemic ulcers etc. So h.pylori will be present when it has caused that ulcer and not in all ulcers.. wishyou a good health
Take care . Bye.
