Brief Answer:
Probably not related to the surgery. You will need some investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

You appendix Surgery was done in Sept 2014.
And you observed black mixed color stools yesterday.
Well, both the things are not related.

The possible caused of black mixed color stool are:
-Green leafy vegetables or anything which has high contents of iron like meat.
-Iron supplements.
-Actual bleeding in the intestines, the commonest cause is gastric ulcer.

I would advise you the following:
First of all send stool sample for routine, microscopy and 'occult blood'
Upper GI Endoscopy to see for gastritis, gastric or duodenal ulcers.
If necessary colonoscopy too again to see any bleeding source.
Blood- CBC including platelet count.
Avoid oily, spicy foods, foods high in iron contents for the time-being.
Observe stool daily.
The further treatment will be according to the actual diagnosis you get on the investigations.

I hope this answer helps you, please give feedback and feel free to ask for more if you need to.
