Question : Hello this is an XXXXXXX 24 year old male who has myopia of minus 8 in left eye and -8.5 in the right eye. since last few months I have had the problem of black waves in front of my eyes. these waves are not floaters but rather closely packed series of waves and lines. it is almost as if I was staring at the shadow of a fan in the background such that whatever I saw had an oscillating and rhythmic Shadow over it. I would clarify that this is not seen under artificial light or when I am staring at Complex surfaces involving a number of colours or textures. rather it occurs only when I am staring at the sky on the road or any uniform surface I would also mention that these lines can be seen only when I am wearing spectacles and not when I am not wearing specs. I do not have any problems of eyesight. any help would be greatly appreciated .

thank you XXXX

Brief Answer:
Floaters

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This definitely appears to be dens floaters. They are common in high myopia ,seen on light background, preferably against sky or a white wall.Seems to moove with eye with a time lag.More pronounced with glasses.
There could be a vitreous detachment, which again requires no treatment.
We in our practice, submit such patients to detailed retinal examination and then advice celin (vit.C) 500mg daily for 6weeks.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, it comes as a relief that no treatments are required. Would you recommend any kind of eye care or exercise to reduce the symptoms ?

Since my work involves a lot of travel, getting a check done immediately is difficult. would you still recommend that I take celin tablets and in what dosage should it be ?

thanks
