What Causes Blackish Vaginal Discharge Post Intercourse?

default
Posted on Tue, 4 Aug 2015
Question: I have been on the implanon for about a year now, the first few months I had bled for 4 months straight but that seemed to stop and I have had regular periods since, but I just finished my period 5 days ago, I had intercourse 2 days ago and now I seem to have it again, only difference is, the blood is nearly black, I have much more cramping and it's a light flow, Im not in any pain in my vaginal area. should I be worried? Or is this completely normal?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry about. It will stop spontaneously.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The black or brownish colored discharge is suggestive of an old bleeding. Since there is no bright red blood- there is no fresh bleeding. This old bleed will gradually stop on its own. There is nothing to worry.
