Brief Answer: May be atrophic vaginitis Detailed Answer: Hello! Thanks for your query. In menopausal or postmenopausal women atrophic vaginitis may cause postcoital bleeding as the vagina is not sufficiently lubricated due to reduced mucosal secretions. Estrogen preparations are an effective treatment. Other causes that can give postcoital bleeding are:. Chlamydia. Gynaecological malignancy Cervical or endometrial polyps Trauma For further evaluation you should consult a gynecologist. She may do a pap smear to rule out cervical causes of bleeding. Straining bowel movements have no relation with postcoital bleeding. There may be many causes for it. Take care of your self
