Brief Answer:
Bleeding is due to Mirena tail threads

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns about bleeding after Mirena insertion.

Following is my reply:

1. This is commonly seen if there is trauma due to the threads attached to end of Mirena coil which cause friction during intercourse and bleeding.

2. This is local cause and can be solved by trimmming the tail ends of Mirena coil.

3. This brown like mucus discharge is also bleeding.

4. If Mirena is not put for excess bleeding reason, another suggestion would be to remove the Mirena and replace with copper containing Intrauterine device ( IUD) after consulting your doctor. This will be small in size than Mirena and will give you contraception advantages also.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya
