Posted on Thu, 9 Nov 2017
Question: Woke up this morning and I had poured blood a night on my pillow case it soaked all the way through to my pillow. It’s still bleeding from what I have read it’s just a ruptured ear drum. Is there by reason to go and get this looked at? It does hurt and hurts to swallow and I do have a migraine but I ge migraines all the time.

Brief Answer:
Monitor only for now!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

Fo know, there is no reason to seek immediate medical evaluation. I will recommend that you monitor. Bleeding should stop within 6hours and their should be no pain. If this doesn’t apply to you, then seek medical evaluation at that time.

For now, Tylenol for relief: 1000mg at most 3times daily.

What is your blood pressure? I will like to get and idea of what the values are at this time.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you!

Okay I had a feeling but everyone is saying you need to go and I can’t afford trip for something that is not an emergency as I don’t have insurance. As for my blood pressure it’s always been in the healthy range but I don’t have a blood pressure cuff to take it to give you a current reading. Just the pain is pretty worrisome as it’s continual with sharp pains plus a swallowing make my ear hurt worse. This migraine is amplifing my pin I’m sure

Brief Answer:
Get an appointment, not an ER visit, for evaluation!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

With persistent pain, I will recommend that you get evaluated. This will be even more important if you are still bleeding.

Nothing at this time points to an impending danger and I will not encourage you to incur charges that wouldn’t necessarily make any huge difference if you wait and go in on a regular appointment within a week.

Keep me updated!
