Question : My 20 year old son has been experiencing numbness of his tongue and lips for 2 days. He said that he hurts all over and that his gums have been bleeding. He has a horrible headache as well. What could be causing this?

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

The causes of headache and numbness can be many and at times it is hard to be determined. They can range from anxiety related issues, to more serious causes such as infection, blood conditions, tumor etc.

Given that information of bleeding from the gums I believe however it should be taken seriously, possible be checked in the ER. Among other signs he should be evaluated for bleeding phenomena in other bodily systems, as well as have a complete blood count and coagulation tests to be evaluated for a blood condition.
