What Causes Bleeding In Early Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Thu, 6 Nov 2014
Question: I am 5 weeks 3 days pregnant and last night when I had to use the restroom. I noticed a tiny bit of orangey rust colored spotting. It only happened once and no more. I dont have any cramps or anything. Is this something I should be worried about?

Brief Answer:
may not be associated with complications

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned but it does not mean that either you or the baby are at risk.

It is possible to have slight bleeding in early pregnancy with no resulting complications.

The signs and symptoms of complications would be increasing abdominal cramps, persistent or increasing vaginal bleeding.
The blood may be in the form of clots or 'fleshy' appearance (have a pink appearance).

You should consider wearing sanitary napkins for 24 to 36 hours to monitor for any additional bleeding.

If you do notice any problems then you should visit your doctor for assessment.

If no further bleeding occurs there is not likely any reason for concern.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
