What Causes Blisters On The Lips While On Levothyroxine?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: I recently had a TSH test and results showed an Elevated TSH [R94.6] - Primary
I definitely have symptoms and was given Levothyroxin 25mcg to take in early morning with water.
I tried 2 days and had severe reactions which left me feeling very wiped out for over a week. I still have verylittle energy. I stopped the med on third day. Suffered a week with blisters on across my lips.
A friend told me about Nature Thyroid. Do you know of any reactions to that?
I do have Fibromyalgia and RA and IBS and take herbal supplements which work well for them over years.

Brief Answer:
Could you post the results

Detailed Answer:
Good day,

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Did you mean that your TSH was 94.6 ?
Could you please attach a copy of your blood test to this question?
And did you also have a Free T4 ( Ft4) test done?

Reactions to levothyroxine is very very rare. It is usual for a person to feel a bit strange when levothyroxine is started for the first time. Symptoms of hypothyroidism usually get worsened in winter.

The symptoms of blisters in lips are very very unusual for levothyroxine and i suspect another reason including a possible virus infecton.

Nature thyroid contains both T4 and T3 which is animal derived and not recommended by experts these days. However, some people feel great on it. Reactions are possible for that as it is animal derived.

However, may i recommend following tests as well?
1) Free T4 ( if not done allready).
2) 8 AM serum cortisol.
3) Serum electrolytes.
4) Fasting blood glucose.

Have a great weekend.

regards
Binu
