Brief Answer:
If it is an infection, relief only with antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I am assuming you are suffering from diarrhea, which from your symptoms and presentation seems to be associated with some underlying cause like an infection (gastroenteritis), underlying chronic conditions like irritable bowel disease, etc.

The abdominal bloating and stomach pain is most probably associated with the underlying cause and not due to the use of lomotil, if that is what you were wondering.

If you have symptoms of sudden onset of diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, abdominal bloating and pain a few hours after having a meal then this could most probably be due to a stomach infection, which will require the use of antibiotics, oral rehydration solutions and antacids.

If your symptoms are due to a chronic condition that you have either been diagnosed with, or due to common episodes of diarrhea you suffer from for a long period of time, then adequate treatment of the cause will help relieve the symptoms.

Now coming to your question, if you do have an infection then you will not find relief until you initiate antibiotics and start treating the infection, for this you will have to visit the doctor.

But if there is no way to do that right now, then try to get your hands on some oral rehydration solutions (in liquid or powder form), some antacid (e.g. pantoprazole), and drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration.

I hope you find relief soon and also hope you found my response helpful. Please feel free to write to me with any further clarifications or for more information, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
