What Causes Bloating Feeling, Vaginal Bleeding And Leakage From Nipple?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Oct 2014
Question: I take pentasa for UC and fluoxetine for related depression etc.

I am experiencing LHS (my LHS) discomfort/ fullness and abnormal vaginal bleeding (I have confirmed it is vaginal by inserting a tampon). I have suffered cystitis twice in the last four months; sugar is picked up in my urine sample (+1) but glucose fasting blood test and finger prick tests come back ok. I use the same sample bottle but it only used for urine samples.

to be specific: I take 1g pentasa supositiries once a day atm.

nb: I consider this additional information and not a follow up

More additional information:

recent cervical smears have been fine.
Not taking any oral contraceptive/ using any contraceptive as currently single.
bleeding after sex and inter-menstrual bleeding have occurred in the past- nurse asked the question at my last smear and commented that 'You do bleed easily. It is close to your period so that may be the cause, but if it continues you might want to consider cauterization'.

sertraline taken from Dec 2012 to Nov 2013
fluoxetine taken from April 2014 and ongoing

I also experience leakage from my right nipple.

I drink excessively.

Brief Answer:
urinary tract infection might be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I can understand your concern

I analysed your history carefully, in my opinion the most probable cause for your discomfort in abdomen might be due to urinary tract or pelvic inflammatory disease.

I would like to know some additional information to proceed further in discussion.
1, do you have any family history of diabetes?
2. Are you experiencing any weight loss?
3. had you undergone any lab investigations?
4. your height an weight

The leakage from nipple is called as galactorrhea. In your case the probable cause might be due to use of Fluoxetine. This medicine is SSRI, they are having side effect of Galactorrhea.

Waiting for your response

Brief Answer:
urinary sugar is non specific

Detailed Answer:
Hi thank you for providing the necessary information.
i am very happy to see that you are having a very good BMI.
Based on the above history and information i can tell you that the chance of diabetes are negligible.
urine sugar is not a specific test for diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes.
there are many reducing substance in urine which will give positive reaction like sugar.
Basing on urine sugar alone we can not diagnose diabetes.
i suggest you to consult a gynecologist for your menstrual problems and abdominal discomfort.
kindly do exercise daily and maintain your BMI.
since you have a positive family history of diabetes its advisable to go for GTT(glucose tolerance test) testing once yearly starting from age of 40 yrs.
i wish you good health
kindly feel free to ask any further query
