Question: hi,i had a surgery septoplasty to correct my crooked nose in 2008,my nose was collapsed to the right and was straightened ,I had a bit of airway tightening back then but no major issues with my breathing just the esthetics,after a few days I went to remve the splints that I was told were stitched I recall that,the left side splint came out quick ,easy no pain,the right side it was just crazy ,the doctor wasn't being able to remove that splint ,she had to try contless times,everytime she was virtually pulling my body of the chair and my head was goin forward and I was screaming in agony like I the worst pain I ever experienced,suddenly in one of the tries she pushed me so hard that I felt it being released and what I realisenow was the stitches were still attached and were ripped in cold blood from my nose,there was blood everywhere ,I was sent home after a while and on my first night without the splints I went to sleep and after 5 minutes my right side nostril was completely blocked but in a strange manner I never experienced before ,there was no snot or any pus ,it was a dried blockage felt like someone was suffocating me basically,bt I thought I had to wait till the nose heal ,and I waited and waited and for 4 months I waited and the same blockage everynight ,not able to sleep,went to see the surgeon again ,who told me I had some allergic rhinitis,bt I never was allergic to anything in my life,but you believe the doctors and I was prescribed some antibiotic with penincilin and some spray wth steroids,the blockage continued and it actually I felt more blocked the more I took this spray ,so there I went again and an allergie test with some pricky little needle was done and I had no allergy ,im now starting to get desperate with the condition and fly to Portugal to see a ent doctor there who cant see nothing wrong as well,my father gives me these spray to try its called nasex and main composition is oxymethozaline,i try it and by miracle my nose gets unblocked,as always never have any issues while standing up ,only at night when I lay down maybe 25 minuts and my nose swells up,i use this spray for the first time and bingo I can suddenly sleep a full night ,It has been 4 months of this hell,i continue to use his spray as otherwise I cant go to work due to lack of sleep,i keep noticing that the blockage still persists anytime I don't use this spray so I have no alternative but to use it,but also go to the doctor extremely worried that something is not right and tell him ive usedthis spray,immediatly im accused of having caused this problem due to the overuse of that spray,i tellhim that's not correct as this started after th surgery and for 4 mnths I had waited and the night time obstruction wasn't going away,more steroid followed and I stopped using the oxymethozaline spray again for another 2 months ,as soon as I did another 2 months of no sleep ,this situation repeats it self for another 4 years when I attend at least another 10 appointments,everytime im ignored and prescribed steroids anti histamines all sorts..nothing works ,nothing stops the night obstruction ,im now extremely distressed and getting suicidal and deep depression ,i complain to the hospital and the surgeon offers me another surgery in 2012 ,this time to straighten my septum (find it bizarre they didn't do this at the first time anyway),a crooked septum and turbinate reduction ,surgery follows i remove the splints this time very easily removed ,and to my astonishment the obstruction at night continues ,needless to say i think my life is over at this point and im almost 40 years old,i keep ettin up at night and decide to not use no medication for another 2 months ,in a certain night i get really distressed and notice with a cotton bud that i have something painful and sort of lose in the roof of the nostril spetum area ,i touch this area and the pain is immense and suddenly i notice the loud cracking noise,people can hear if next to me its very very loud.. ,something is broken basically ,i have a trauma inside my nostril,i also notice a crack exteriorly ,a piece is missing in the bridge and big lumps next to it ,my girlfriend suddenly notices i got a hole in the septum in the beginning of the nose ,she can see from one side to the other ,i realize this was done when the splints were teared by brute force that day in 2008,i went to see another specialist in nose reconstruction and was told my valve as also collapsing ,hanging cartilages but he didnt notice the big chunky bit that i mentioned as he didn't XXXXXXX it by putting any pressure otherwise he would have ,i now notice when i my obstruction is at its maximum i get up and wait about 45 minutes and it subsides and i don't need to use any oxymethozaline spray ,
as i was being wrngly acused of causing my problem,the bone was broken to straighten my nose and the cartilage isn't attached maybe caused by bad surgery maybe by bad removal of the splints.my question finally is what to do from here ,im suppose to go and see this surgeons again this month in London uk,my apologies for such long text and appreciate any advice thank you
