Brief Answer:
likely related to hemorrhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be concerned about any amount of blood in the stool but it is not likely related to cancer, which would be most persons worry.

Cancer of the colon takes years to develop, this is the reason your doctor would have told you to come back in two to three years.

It is possible that the bleeding is related to the internal hemorrhoids found. Hemorrhoids are a common source of rectal bleeding.

High fiber diet and fluids are the main recommendations for hemorrhoids.
The high fiber diet would entail fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods.
High fiber diets have also been shown to decrease the risk of colon cancer.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
