Question : hello doctor, my father is 73yrs old. he now a days gets this kind of blood clot in hands. attach is the picture. he has Nerve weakness problem. recently there was cyst found in his liver and early renal parenchymal disease also reported. but doctor said it's age related. no treatment needed. I am worried about the blood clot he is getting after every 10 days. please suggest thanks
Brief Answer:
Ecchymotic patches, go for certain lab tests
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed the attached photographs and these seem to be ecchymotic patches which are an age-related change in many individuals.
Still, I would recommend you to get his platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time and coagulation studies to rule out any bleeding disorder as sometimes these spots are seen in bleeding disorders.
If his tests come out to be normal then no need to worry and nothing needs to be done.
