What Causes Blood In Semen And Painful Ejaculation?

Question: I'm 68 yo. Have a PSA score of 4+ which was a 2+ last year. I have noticed blood in seman for last couple years, seems to be getting worse with little pain when ejaculating.
Brief Answer:
You should consult urologist for further diagnostic.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Elevated PSA and blood in semen can be caused by benign diseases (inflammation, benign prostate hyperplasia) as well as by prostate cancer. There is no specific symptoms of mentioned disease so its hard to determine which one is causing your symptoms.
That is why you should consult urologist. Transrectal ultrasound and prostate biopsy should be considered. Semen analysis and urine analysis seem also necessary.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

What is a normal PSA score for a 68 yr old male. I realize there are many variables but what is considered a high score or an average score.
Brief Answer:
More than 3 is high score.
Detailed Answer:
PSA level should be compared to previous one. If it gets higher than before it indicates that something is going on.
Your regular PSA level is 2. We assume that PSA higher than 3 is something that needs to be checked.
