Question : I have blood in my semen. I had a sharp pain in my lower back, which lasted a few hours yesterday, and then this today. I had surgery on a lymph node in my groin three and a half years ago, just infected and still have a bump with what I think is scar tissue..not sure if this has anything to do with it, just being thorough.

Brief Answer:
Most likely not serious

Detailed Answer:
Hi
What you have outlined is a fairly common symptom but the good news is it is usually not an indicator of any serious problem.
You need to get a dew basic investigations though, just to be thorough. You can give semen for analysis and culture if required, especially if there are pus cells in semen. You should get a trans rectal ultrasound for imaging of prostate and seminal vesicles which ate usually the culprits. You can also get a basic urine analysis and an ultrasound of lower abdomen as well.
You need to take antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs. Avoid ejaculatopn if possible for two weeks. You can have ' sitz baths' where you keep your bottom immersed in a bathtub filled with lukewarm water and sit relaxedly for 15-30minutes which should help ease any inflammation.
You are welcome to the evert with any queries or with your reports.
Regards and best wishes for an uneventful recovery.
