What Causes Blood In Sputum With A History Of Sinus?
Question: I recently came to a Middle Eastern country. The air over here is very dry and the temperature is very high. I have noticed a small trace of blood in the sputum then I try to clear my throat. We also have sandstorms, which is causing my sinuses to act up. Can you please let me know why there may be blood present? I have all but diagnosed myself through Google. Help please!!!

There is air con in both the office where I work as well as I'm living quarters. My nose is usually congested when I wake up in the mornings. I've tried taking Claritin. It's makes me dizzy though.

Your answers are admitting what I was thinking since the beginning: congestion of upper respiratory pathways are making their mucosa more fragile and you'll notice blood in sputum especially during sandstorms. The tiny particles of the sand will cause micro-laceration of the fragile mucosa leading to blood in sputum. I am sure you do not notice blood all the time.
If it will persist always, then, ENT examination is required to exclude other pathologies and perhaps you need prescription medications.
