Brief Answer:
Most common causes are benign

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Most common causes of this symptom are hemorrhoids, polyps and telengiectasias but some more serious conditions including tumors should be ruled out. This is rarely emergency unless there is excessive rectal bleeding, skin paleness, fatigue and low blood pressure. In this case you need to visit ER. Otherwise, you should in short time do occult stool test and colonoscopy especially if you had colon cancer in family.

Before all this, you should just see proctologist to rule out hemorrhoids.

Wish you good health. Regards
