Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in the stool can be due to different possible causes such as:
(a) hemorrhoids- this is a common cause- would normally be bright red blood seen on wiping

(b)due to constipation and straining

(c)infection- viral or bacterial infection causing diarrhea can also cause blood in some cases

(d)cancer- cancer of the bowel can be associated with blood. More likely if there are other symptoms though the blood can occur by itself
Other symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, abdominal pain

If you have a recent scope (within the last few years), this is not as likely

(e) diverticular disease- presence of out pockets in the colon. More likely if you are over age 50 though can occur younger

Would be picked up by a scope

(f)crohns or ulcerative colitis

Summary: (a) if you have a recent scope in the last few years, any changes related to cancer would have been picked and this is not likely

(b)if you have a history of hemorrhoids, crohns or ulcerative colitis then thse could be the cause

(c)if you no history of any of the above or no recent scope, it would be best to be seen by your doctor for assessment to determine the cause of the bleeding

This would require physical examination of the abdomen, pr examination and possibly referral to a gastroenterologist for a scope (depends on examination findings, may not be needed)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
