What Causes Blood In Stools While Suffering From Constipation?

default
Posted on Tue, 20 Oct 2015
Question: I am having difficulty with bowel movements and am taking stool softeners which seems to help. I have had occasional bright red blood or staining on my underwear. This bleeding is not excessive or constant. Is this normal. I do think I feel hemorrhodial inflamation. Is this something to be concerned about?

Brief Answer:
Yes this is a point of medical concern.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

These stains of blood may definitely be due to the hemorrhoids. It is a point of concern and you need not only proper checkup but also remedies and treatment for the same.

Apply ProCort Rectal cream on anal verge and inside the anus and rectum. It will help improve the symptom.
Take Lactulose syrup at night for proper stools of normal bulk and consistency.
Take plenty of water and vegetables, fruits and salads.
No caffeinated drinks, beverages and fast, fried and junk foods.
Avoid spices and try bland diet.
Whole grain foods are the best option for you.
Take Citrucel Dietary Fiber Supplement to help you get better stools and better digestion. Take it with plenty of water.
Normal physical activity is also needed for normal bowel movements.
Use Sitz Bath 3 times a day to soothe and heal faster. It is actually a bath tub with XXXXXXX warm saline water in it dipping the hips when sitting in it.

If you feel nothing helps for you, you need to consult a Gastroenterologist for in-office evaluation of the issues. He will run a battery of tests on you including but limited to some blood work, colonoscopy, proctoscopy etc.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.
