Question : Hi i have herpess on my tongue and more in my mouth! I took valacyclovir 4 pills. Just pee, have blood in my urine what

Please advice what could be the reason for the blood in my urine?! I have the herpes for a week in my mouth. Yesterday i took the pills- 2 pills every 12 hours. Total 4 pills. so its like 24 hours from yesterday i peed blood before a few min. Is this side effect from the medicine-valacyclovir hcl 1 gram, or it is from the herpes

I understand your concern. & it's good that you acted promptly & enquired about it.
- Valacyclovir is an antiviral drugs & has good effect on herpes. At the same time it's known to have many grave side effects , one of them being blood in urine,more so in previous kidney problems.
- Also immunocompromised conditions/high blood pressure ( could be caused by herpes virus itself )/high cholesterol/diabetes/rheumatoid arthritis when accompanied by herpes, predispose the patient for blood in urine
* As blood in urine is a renal emergency,I would advise you to call your doctor & inform about blood in urine you have. & consult him right away for further investigations & management of the condition.
