Pls see detailed.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

Blood in the urine (hematuria) is always a serious symptom wherein malignancy and cancer should be first ruled out considering your husbands age.

Conditions that may cause hematuria are infection, prostatitis, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and any inflammatory condition in the urinary tract.

I would recommend a urinalysis and a KUB Prostate Ultrasound since these exams are good screening tools with very high pick up rates.

In the meantime make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids and 1-2L per day. The worm like structures are clotted blood that are being expelled with the urine.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://www.HealthcareMagic.com/doctors/dr-manuel-c-see-iv/66014 I would gladly help you. Best wishes
