Brief Answer:
Blood in urine is abnormal and needs treatment for stopping it.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.
Blood in urine is always abnormal. We have to find the source of bleeding.
Once the cause for bleeding is known, treatment is decided.
Certain tests will be needed to locate the source of bleeding.
A bladder cyst as such, doesn't usually cause bleeding.
He will need to have blood creatinine, sugar, coagulation profile and urine culture testsed. The profile includes BT, CT, PT, platelets and INR.
Then he will need to do a CECT (contrast enhanced CT) scanning.
Once these reports are available, further treatment can be decided.
He should drink 8-10 glasses liquids daily.
Wish him well.

Brief Answer:
Kindly consult an Urologist only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
There's a great difference between a plain and a contrast CT scan.
A contrast CT scan only, can highlight the entire urinary tract, and hence give very accurate information, regarding kidneys, urinary tubes from kidneys to bladder, and bladder. If there's a growth, stone, or similiar cause for the bleeding, it will be seen, very clearly. Also, it'll give information about function of the two kidneys.
Even the bladder cyst may have a growth inside it, and be a cause for the bleeding.
So you see, we must find out, exactly, the cause of the bleeding.
Then only, one can advise proper treatment, to stop further bleeding.
A plain CT scan is an incomplete study, which doesn't reveal much information.
You must consult an Urologist only.
Wish you well.
