Blood in the urine in an adult man can happen because of anything that causes inflammation in the genitourinary tract. This includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra and prostate.
Some of the causes include bladder infection, prostatitis, urinary tract/kidney stones, problems with the kidneys, autoimmune diseases, and sometimes tumors.
I strongly advise that if this is happening to you, that you go in to be seen now and have a urinalysis done. I recommend if your doctor does not have office hours today, that you go in to an urgent care clinic. There, specifically request to see a physician and refuse to see a physician's assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) as they are less trained than a physician (MD). If the only staff that the urgent care has is a PA or NP, then do go ahead and see them.
They will request that you give a urine specimen there in a sterile container. They can do a "dip urinalysis" with a dip stick while you wait, but should send the rest of the urine off to the lab for a complete urinalysis and possibly a culture if the dip urine test looks like possible infection.
If you are also having pain, they should do a physical exam and possibly an X-ray if they think the bleeding/pain might be due to a stone.
But don't wait - do go in to be seen and get tests started.
