Brief Answer:
He seems to have a gastrointestinal infection. Stool and blood test needed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The blood red spots in stool could be a cause to worry about. It is likely to be due to a gastrointestinal infection although it could also be due to certain malabsorption syndromes. A stool microscopic examination will make things clear. A routine blood count and a C-Reactive protein (CRP) level should also be helpful. I insist that you give the stool and blood for analysis and visit a pediatrician with the reports without delay. In the meantime please give him ORS or oral redhyration solution.

Brief Answer:
You can give any food other than wheat and milk products

Detailed Answer:
In such a scenario any food other than milk and wheat based products, can be given. But I fear that the reports might indicate and infection wherein hospitalization and further management might be required. I do not wish to frighten you but you need to get the tests done first.

My local doctor said not so serious. OFM and econorm prescribed. Although bit normal now she is not willing take at all for last few days. Please suggest what can be the reason. What should we do.

Brief Answer:
Please complete the course of antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

As I mentioned, that the reason is that she is probably suffering from a gastrointestinal infection. OFM has been rightly prescribed and please complete the course. I would still have preferred the stool test however. Continue ORS and Econorm. I think that it would get controlled with these medicines.

why is that she is not at all willing to take food during this period. She is crying as soon as she sees spoon.
Is this very common during stomach flu? what can we do best at this stage for her feeding.

Brief Answer:
Not feeding well might be the first sign indicating that child is not well

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking back.

It is common for children not to eat properly while they are ill. Irritability might also be frequently seen during such periods as evident from her protesting on the sight of food. I would insist you not to force feed her. Try to coax her to eat. In the meantime, if the symptoms come in control gradually with the antibiotics, there should not be anything to worry about. But if the situation is not improving, getting the tests done should be a better idea.

Hope that helps.
