What Causes Bloody Discharge After Surgery?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Dec 2014
Question: I had a Davi Robotic Sacral Popl About 2 weeks ago. Today is the first time I have ever had any type of discharge; it is sort of a bloody discharge, and may be from a UTI? I am worried, as it is a Holiday week, and my Doctor is hard to reach. What should I do? I live in an isolated area and it is at least 100 miles to the nearest Hosp/Clinic.

Brief Answer:
nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, I understand your health concern.
There is nothing much to worry as it is common to have discharge after 10-15 days of surgery.
It is a part of healing process.
But in case it gets profuse or there is an active bleeding (very less chances) , then you should rush to the emergency room as soon as possible but if similar discharge continues there is nothing to worry about and you can visit your doctor on planned follow up date.
All the best
Regards
Dr Manisha.
