What Causes Blurred Vision Along With Spots On Arms And Groin Area?

default
Posted on Sat, 3 Jan 2015
Question: hello

I have a question regarding medication.

I sometimes have blurry vision, need to urinate often too and recently for the 1st time started to get spots on my groin, some on my arms and now on my face.

I've been to an STD clinic who do not believe I have herpes or genital warts. I have been tested for all major STD's which are negative. I had been concerned about the potential of obtaining an STD from a massage. (not sex)

My doctor thinks I have a bacterial infection and has prescribed me minocin for 16 days. I will start taking them today.

I am wondering if my symptoms are recurring, can this really be a bacterial infection? Do bacterial infections remain for 1 year for example, coming and going, without being constant or persistent? My symptoms began in January 2014 but return every few months. I only recently got spots for the 1st time but these have returned twice already.

Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Please provide picture&tests reports...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

1. You are reporting to have spots in your skin. Can you send a picture of the spots?

2. If not treated well, skin infections can go and come for longer than 1 year.

3. As long as STD testing were negative, no fear for STD.

4. With regards to blurred vision and frequent urination, my suspects go for possible :
- urinary tract infection (UTI)
-diabetes

Measuring blood sugar levels and HbA1C level together with urine analysis are advised to check for these pathologies.

If you have any test report, you can send to me for further evaluation.

Hello Dr Albana and thank you for your detailed response.

I have now attached 2 pics. 1 of my face spots and one of the spots on my groin.

My doctor believes these are bacterial and not anything such as herpes or warts. I passed all STD tests but herpes and warts are only assessed by observation. (not blood tests). I was concerned about herpes or warts as these are possibly the only STD's I could get just from skin contact massage, without any sex.

Do spots normally accompany UTI's? What is the cause of UTI's? I forgot to mention sometimes I have high temperature in the past year. My face and neck are very red / overheated.

Thank you for your advise regarding the urine analysis. I have an appointment with a urologist but the only time available is 19th January which is a long time to wait.

Please let me know your analysis of my update.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
No sign for warts, bacterial skin infection. ..

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Thank you for providing additional information and requested pictures.

1. I have gone through the pictures you sent to me, and from what I have seen, they seem to be infected hair follicle (bumps on your face and groin ).

To my opinion, if I was your caring doctor would advise to start taking oral antibiotics.

Skin is the part of the body which reflects the problems inside your body. So such bumps are indicative for possible systemic infection. That's why oral antibiotics are advised.

2. UTI in males might be caused by:
- urinary tract anomalies
- chronic metabolic diseases (diabetes, etc)
- consuming less water or foods that would increase chance for UTI by damaging kidney function
- kidney stones
- being uncircumcised

Urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound would be helpful in identifying the right cause.

3. The heat feeling you experience in your head might be due to :
- oscillation in blood pressure /sugar levels
- systemic infection
- neurological problems

If I was your caring doctor would advise to run the above mentioned tests first to determine the final cause.

Hope it was of help!
Dr.Albana
