Question : I was recently prescribed dicyclomine - 10 mg to be taken 4 times a day. I took one capsule yesterday, and immediately experienced a severe side-effect, blurred vision and a severe pain in the upper middle part of my chest. Needless to say, I will not continue with this medication. What is your opinion? My e-mail address is - YYYY@YYYY - thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:

1. Blurred vision is a common side effect of dicyclomine. This is why I suggest stopping immediately this medication.

2. With regards to severe chest pain It is not common associated with dicyclomine use. This is why I strongly recommend excluding any cardiac problems associated with chest pain.

If you were my patient I would recommend doing the following examinations (to exclude any cardiac involvement):
- ECG
- Cardiac ECHO

If your chest pain increase in intensity or you feel that things aren't going very well you should go to ER to exclude any life-threatening situation. Otherwise, you may schedule seeing a cardiologist.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!
