What Causes Body Rash With Low Back Pain And Low Grade Fever When Suffering From Herpes?

Question: I have a had a rash that I thought was shingles and the worst of it went away but then other areas of the trunk part of my body developed rash but not quite as bad. Doctor took blood said it wasnt shingles and sent me home. 2-3 weeks later I go back (today) and nurse practitioner looked at rash in different spot and said she would have doctor look at it. They believe it to be scabies. I work in urban school and indoor cat that sleeps in my bed so I am going with that diagnosis. Perscription has been called in. I also had a low grade fever today of 99.2 and knawing low back pain (back pain since end of November when this first developed). Im 42 and female I was just wondering now that I am home that I have herpes diagnosed in like 2003-2004 but have never had any issues with it and do not know the type it was discovered in blood work following an exam at doctor. I also have had chicken pox. Is it possible that this is what could be driving the rash etc...its only on my front trunk and very mildly on my back. Thank you and should I let this doctor know about herpes diagnosis from 7-8 years ago. I dont have outbreaks etc... that I have known of and dont take a daily regimen of medication for it. Thank you

Brief Answer: details below Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query. Definitely it is not shingles, however a possibility of herpes is there. There are chances of herpes recurring after years of latency. Please inform your treating doctor about this. If possible please upload a photograph of the rash. This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis. There is an option to upload reports on right side of query page. Please utilize that. Waiting for your response. Thank you.

Thank you. I uploaded a photograph for you to diagnosis. I know I only get to ask one question after this so I am curious with the treatment of scabies I was given it seems to have helped quickly. However the herpes from visiting the web, appears to show up on any body part. Will herpes show up on trunk, go away then show on lower trunk, go away show up on stomach etc... Consecutively with no break??? It looked like chickenpox and if I scratched it, it would either bleed very little or have small amount clear liquid like popping a zit. Could scabies react this way? I started the rash end of November and realized I had 3 different hotel visits that month, sleeping on sofa beds, different bed sheets etc...I don't know. Also Does it matter what type of herpes one has?? I don't know what type I have but im assuming it was contracted through some form of sexual activity?? 9 years ago actually. I'm not sure how else. Can it cause headaches, back pain etc? Is it safe to take anti-viral even if I am not sure an outbreak exists?

Brief Answer: details below Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the follow up and photograph. It is looking like herpes. There is a possibility that herpes comes and goes involving different parts of body at different times. It is usually herpes virus 1 which causes this type of lesion. Long term anti virals can be used as prophylactic measure. Please meet a dermatologist and get it prescribed. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you

Brief Answer: not scabies. get treatment form dermatologist Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the follow up. It's best to get treated by dermatologist as the doses and duration of treatment will be well managed. The lesions don't appear to be scabies to me. Scabies usually involves finger web spaces and genital areas and the lesions are usually pus filled. As I do not practice holistic medicine, I would be able to help you with it. But if aren't satisfied after a visit to a dermatologist you can look for one nearby and try it. However I don't think you may need it. Let me know if you have any other doubts. Thank you
