Question: Dear dr

Recently my sister had been diagnosed with breast cancer . It was a devastated news to my family.
None of my family member on both side of parent had cancer history.
To add on , my sis is very particular on hygiene all the time . She ate well, no cigrettes, not a single sip of alcohol and slept on time . She is 38 yrs old married with no children. However she had some obsessive compulsive disorder and constantly stressed and unhappy at work, which she hadn't seen a psychiatrist about .

This incident had made me wondered why? What had actually cause this? Is it work stress? Anxiety disorder? Etc.more than often , are there really no answers to it?

I had anxiety disorder for years. And the incident that happen on my sis made me worried. I begin constantly checking on myself , worried about lumps and afraid. And I am afraid that this will create stress constantly n affect health. N eventfully catch some serious disease

Brief Answer:
breast cancer is multifactorial phenomenon

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Welcome to healthcare Magic!
It is really distressing news for the family to have a member diagnosed with cancer.
First and foremost take your sister to an equipped medical center and make sure she gets the appropriate treatment as per the stage of cancer and at the earliest possible time.
The stress or anxiety a have the least bearing as a cause for any kind of cancer. So do not be worried on that part.
But to reduce psychological morbidity the treatment for anxiety and OCD should be instituted.
The breast feeding is protective against breast cancer and nulliparity is a risk. Overweight and heavy breast patients have more tendency to breast cancers. High dose oral contraceptive pills are also a risk in susceptible persons.
Occurrence of cancers are related to environmental pollution- smoke, carbon particles, pesticides in food and vegetables and radiation from ultraviolet rays and man made sources all add to risk factors.
As such cancers can be considered as biological accidents in regulation of maintenance of body.
All the mentioned factors add up to make it a multifactorial phenomenon.
I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you.
