Detailed Answer:
Hello!
You haven't provide much clinical information about your symptom. Please answer the following questions being as descriptive as you can...
(1) Where is the location of the pain exactly? Does it radiate somewhere else?
(2) Is there anything that makes the pain reappear or get worse (like moving or lifting weights or anything)
(3) Is there anything that makes the pain go away partially or completely?
(4) Are there any associated symptoms (nausea, vomiting, cold sweating, etc)?
(5) Please say more about your medical history like diagnosed disorders and drugs.
I'll be waiting for your input...

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thanks for the additional information!
Breast pain or tenderness can be caused by hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle (I'm sure you're familiar with it) but it may also become painful due to inflammation.
Inflammation usually means that a cyst has become infected for example. Very rarely - too rare to seriously consider - it may be the presenting symptom of a malignancy.
Your doctor may detect signs of inflammation with clinical examination.
Radiological tests can be helpful here. Both an ultrasound scan and an X-ray of the breasts (mammography) may detect the source of pain (but sometimes they don't).
An enlarged maxillary lymph node may be a sign of inflammation too.
So in conclusion, clinical examination data is crucial for the diagnosis. Certain tests (X-rays and Ultrasound scan) may help.
Hope I have answered your question.
Take care,
Dr. Panagiotis Zografakis,
