What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Tightness In The Chest In The Morning?

default
Posted on Fri, 8 Jul 2016
Question: Slept well the past two nights. I got average 6.5 hrs sleep. want more.

Noticed I am more stressed or think i am more stressed in the morning. I think this is the case because I am checking my breathing and finding tight chest. I must force myself to believe you that it is not lung disease but thats not easy. I must stay with inflammation as the issue.

Can inflammation be worse in morning than later in day? I read that asthma is that way and asthma is inflamed airways. Or is it just the quick anxiety attack I create in the morning by knowing i have to get up and go thru another day.

Your explanation of emphysema helps, now give me another explanation that reassures me that its nothing but inflamation of small airways. That way I can calm down at my desk and work

Brief Answer:
Yes, you are right about timing of inflammation.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I was worried about you because of no question for 2 days.
But now I am relieved as you have slept well for two days.
Yes, you are right about diurnal variation in inflammation.
Asthma attacks are more common in early morning (1-5 am) because inflammation is more in) during these hours.
But this theory is only for asthma.
In your case morning inflammation is due to stress and anxiety about next day and work.
You are late today in questioning.
You usually ask question before 3 hours. You must be at work desk.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I am late because we had used up all questions available on other account. I did not take time to close it and move to this account.

So the feeling or the sensation of breathing obstruction that i get is only side effects of inflammation

I am assuming that the more I fret on it, the more intense the next round of inflammation gets and makes it harder because the airways are being kept constricted for a longer period of time because of all the excess mediators.

Inflammation in my airways will take time to reduce as long as I relax. Is that correct in my thinking. I am thinking that if my idea is correct, it will then eliminate the obstructional feeling I get every so often.

Today got better as the work day came to a close.

Yes, I am in bed. I am very very tired. Stress wears you out. The longer you have it the more tired you feel.

Right now I'm scanning the Internet looking for appropriate amplification that will fill my sound needs. I am picky on sound or what can provide me with sound I want or need

After I finish that I am shopping for hardware to install a wall hanger system to have my many bass guitars available to play and not have to open a case to get to them

Feel right now? Well today I had a Xanax at wake up, another after lunch and one before bed This is one more than I usually take. I wanted to keep the calm state constant for a short period to see if I can bring down the anxiety and inflammation and not be thinking of it.

Yesterday I did have a better afternoon

I slept well over 7 hours last night. Hooray!!

We agreed that it would take time to get inflammation to reduce. Is that because it has had a long period of time to get to the level it's at

Does that mean I will have sensations on and off like I did this morning. Did once coming out of calm sleep the need to get up triggered more effort so the body had its reactions with bigger breaths and the excess inflamed airways reacted as it would, by restricting air with constricted airways

Yes, your understanding is right.
There is summation of stress induced inflammation.
So extra afternoon dose of Xanax is actually helping you.
Do you think so?
Why you felt that the afternoon was good? Did you sleep in afternoon?

Sorry, took a nap in afternoon and it helped

Last night the Xanax from the bed dose taken along with the calmed out day helped me to sleep over 7 hours. I could have slept more but I had to get up for work day

And am dealing with a humid morning and I feel that the continued or as you put, summation of inflammation making breathing a bit harder.

Just stay the course of relaxation and it should come down over time. Correct

Oh this is a thread from the other account that might be the last thread till next renewal date so we will keep this open as long as possible

Correct on the three for the day.
At5 am I took 1
At 2 pm I took 1
At 9 pm I took 1

Taking that pill at 2 smoothed the day out

I think staying relaxed all day helped with nights sleep too!!

I do not want to make a habit of this if I do it again today, I may split the pill in half at 2
