Question : my big toe is purple and painful but i have heard nothing can be done for a broken toe Is there anything other than a break that would cause this? I stubbed it 2 weeks ago. it is not hot to the touch

probably trauma but ischemia is possible too

Fracture is most probable cause and you need to do xrays and immobilize it if required. Other possible causes are ischemia and arthritis so if fracture is ruled out, you need to see rheumatologist for further evaluation. Wish you good health. Regards
