Question : Several months ago I noticed brown semen. I went to a urologist and he ran a PSA which was 0.2, the same it was years ago. He ran a digital prostate exam and that was normal. He also did a fiber optics test to check my bladder through my penis. It was normal. I didn't have sex for 3 years prior to going to doctor.

After several months I had sex and again noticed brown semen. Both times the sex felt good. I also take 6 grams of fish oil a day.
Any thoughts.

Brief Answer:
Most commonly its due to older blood mixed in semen

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. In most of the cases brown semen is because of old blood mixed with semen. There are a number of causes for this condition. Most common causes include:
- Trauma to testis
- Infections of the prostate, urethra, or seminal vesicles
- Dietary cause could include high protein diet, some vitamins
- In rare cases tumor may also cause.

Now as you told that it occurred after sex so chances are for trauma or infection.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
