What Causes Brown Flaky Vaginal Discharge After Intercourse?
Question: Hello,
I am very worried as I have noticed brown flakes coming from my vaginal passage after intercourse and now I am shedding brown blood during the first two days of my period. I have no other symptom. I just started my own business so I don't have any health insurance yet.

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The brownish discharge can be due to several things. It can happen in the beginning of the period when the blood flow is less or we are probably looking at an abortion ( we'll have to confirm a pregnancy for that) or it could be just due to some local trauma.
Here's what you should be doing in this order
a. If you do not get your proper period, please do a urine pregnancy test at home 3-4 days after the day you should have started your period. If you want to know earlier, see a physician and get a serum beta hCG done for yourself. This is a blood test and will pick up the pregnancy sooner.
If this is positive, I would suggest that a transvaginal ultrasound scan be done to find the cause.
b. If you do get your period, it could be due to the beginning of your period or due to local trauma ( which may be sustained during intercourse).
Also, keep the stress levels down, have a healthy and balanced diet and do not engage in any vigorous activity.
