What Causes Brown Or Pink Discharge Before Bowel Movement?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Dec 2014
Question: i am 43 and 8 weeks pregnant via IVF. Heard heartbeat twice and both times strong, last ultrasound was 11/19. Had blood work done and that came back fine. However, i had 2 bowel movements today and after the first one there was a little brown with discharge and just before had a second bowel movement and there was a pinkish discharge. Nothing on my underwear and hasnt happened the rest of the day when i would urinate. Should i be worried? I am taking 200 mg prometrium and 2 mg estradiol once daily in the morning. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Dont worry about discharge

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Good to see you back.

I am happy to see that the heart beat has really grown strong than last time and pregnancy is going great as expected.

Pink discharge is possible and common during this period of pregnancy as baby will be trying to implant deep into uterus.

Sometimes the discharge is also possible if you are inserting vaginal tablets.

Either way there is no need to worry about the baby or pregnancy as everything is going great. This discharge does not mean miscarriage.

Regards

Brief Answer:
You are not miscarrying

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I am fine thank you.
Miscarriage is associated with severe abdominal pain and clots. This small pink discharge is not to be worried. Just take rest. Be relaxed.

I don't quit the website. I am always here. Next time when you post a new query start as " query for Dr. Mahesh Koregol". Only then It comes straight to me. Or else other doctors can answer it.

Hi doctor,
Just wanted to let you know today's ultrasound showed no heartbeat after it being strong. My doctor saya there was a genetic problem. I will have a D&C this week and will have it tested. I want to thank you for being so helpful to me through this process. Hopefully one day i will have a child...

Brief Answer:
Chromosomal abnormalities

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I am sorry to hear the heart beat has gone.

The strong possibility of genetic problem appears to be there.

I suggest you send the fetus for biopsy and lets see what report says.

When you go for IVF next time opt for PGD (Pre implementation genetic diagnosis) where genetic abnormalities can be diagnosed before doing embryo transfer.

By this way only genetically normal embryos can be transferred.

Let me know if you need any more help
