Question: My period is not due to start for a week and I have been bleeding for the past four days. It his heavy but mostly only when I wipe. I have had some pain on my left side but nothing to bad. I take birth control and have not missed any pills. I have had spotting in the past few months a couple of days before my period but not bleeding like this.I was wondering if this could ne due to a cyst and if I should cobtact my gynecologist.

Brief Answer:
may need to see doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
You may need to see your gynecologist since you have been spotting for the past few months and now are having this bleeding.
Your doctor may need to put you on a different form of birth control.
Sometimes there are hormonal shifts and a different kind of pill may help regulate your periods.
It could be due to a cyst, because sometimes a cyst can cause hormonal changes. If you have had cysts before then this may be more likely.
It may also be worth checking a pregnancy test must to make sure.
Remember no form of birth control works 100% of the time.
I wish you the best.
See your doctor soon,
