Brief Answer:
Bleeding into the skin ought to be investigated

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The bruising or bleeding into the skin without trauma can occur in the following conditions. Diseases of the platelets which are the particles in the blood which form small plugs and prevent bleeding- can be a decrease in the number called thrombocytopenia or defect in their ability to stick to one another and form a plug - called thrombasthenia. Several diseases can cause thrombocytopenia. Similarly bleeding can also occur with fragility of small blood vessels -capillaries which is common in XXXXXXX citizen with trivial, un-noticed trauma.

There can be disease of liver and certain other diseases that decrease the clotting factors and lead such bleeding. It ought to be investigated with a complete blood count, Prothrombin time and other clotting factors.

If you have further queries, I am available to answer them.
Take care.

I am experiencing a sharp pain high on my shoulder at the front of the shoulder. It started a couple of weeks ago. It is not constant and I am only reminded of it when I try to lift something or raise my arm.
Also a couple of months ago I took an antibiotic that one of the side effects was said to be torn ligaments. And they need not occur while taking the medicine but could happen at a later date.
hile I have slowed down as of late I was previously active and with all my sports I never had a situation such as this.
My wife keeps raising the question of my heart. I doubt this is the problem as the arm pain is not constant and has not changed over the last couple of weeks.
Any further comment?

Brief Answer:
Likely to be musculoskeletal and non cardiac.

Detailed Answer:
The sharp pain is probably musculo-skeletal in origin. It can be an inflammation of the tendon and/or the synovium (tenosynovitis) or it can be from osteoarthritis of the shoulder. The pain occurring when you move the arm is suggestive. X-ray of the shoulder might help in the diagnosis.
It is unlikely to be from the heart. It can be from the heart if you find that exertion that does not involve the shoulder like climbing stairs or walking uphill makes it worse and it is relieved by rest. I guess it is not so in your case. If you have not had an EKG for quite sometime, one may be done as part of a general check up and it would also help address your wife's concern.
If you have further questions you are welcome. If not, you may close this discussion and record your comment.
Thanks for the opportunity to interact with you.
Wish you good health.
