I understand your concern.
From your description, you seem to have early symptoms of cold urticaria.. an allergic reaction on exposure to cold.
It is reaction of body to cold exposure in form of histamine release,& can be genetic or acquired in origin. Very rarely, blood abnormalities cryoglobulinemia can cause such symptoms. It is accompanied by symptoms of purpura.
Management-
a) - Consult a physician to exclude poissibility of cryoglobulinemia. / takew spewcific reatment as per need.
b) Being allergic in origin.. the treatment consists of -
1. Taking anti allergic medicines soon after exposure to cold. This prevents aggravated allergic response / chronic cold urticaria..with allergy specialist's advise.
- Preventive dose of anti allergic medicines can be taken in cold season./ before exposure to cold.. whenever cold exposure becomes unavoidable.
2. Prevention of allergy- This forms major part of management. is achieved by avoiding exposure to cold.
-Avoid out door activities in winter/ Cover up all the body parts with layers of clothes. Please choose the clothing material with allergy testing by allergy specialist.. For you can have allergy to specific type of clothing material.
- Avoid sweating in summer. as when sweating is followed by a breeze of air, the sweat dries quickly.. to create cooling effect.
-. Avoid shower/ bathing/swimming in cool water, Use warm water for bath, hand washing, drinking.
-. Avoid excessive/ prolonged physical activity. It may affect by causing sweating/ causing temporary low blood supply to overactive muscles.. this can lead to cooling effect & cause allergic rash. So do the activities with sufficient breaks.
-Be aware of using air conditioner/ taking cold drinks.
- In case you need hospitalization & Iv line, inform your doctor about your problem of cold urticaria.so that care will be taken to infuse warm IV fluids instead of cold ones.
3. Permanent desensitization can considered , take help of an allergy specialist.
