default
Posted on Fri, 11 Jul 2014
Question: I sometimes get a burning pain in buttocks -- very low -- and am wondering what it is. Seems to have something to do with gas, and I'm prone to irritable bowel syndrome as well as bursitis.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms suggest nerve related disorder.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM,

Gas problem, gastritis, regurgitation or any other upper gastrointestinal tract problem presents with symptom in the upper abdomen.
Thus, burning sensation in the buttock region is not a manifestation of gastritis.

Burning sensation occurs commonly due to nerve related disorders or nerve diseases.
I would suggest you to consult your primary health provider for clinical assessment.
Relevant investigations will help to know the cause of burning sensation and thus management of the condition.
Bursitis can lead to pain in the joint, however, burning pain is not associated with bursitis.
Bursitis is an irritating and dull aching pain.

Irritable bowel disease is a chronic disease with waxing and waning course.
Consultation with a gastroenterologist is required for its management.

If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
