Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

Thanks for providing clinical picture. I could appreciate Umbilicus is inverted and there is small swelling associated with redness suggesting possibility of infective foci or collection.

It would be helpful if you could provide me following additional information so that i am able to assist you further

1. What was the indication of Surgery(exploratory Surgery)
2. Was it Laparoscopic Surgery? If yes then was the post of entry at umbilicus/belly button?
3. Is there any discharge from belly button, if yes what is color of discharge?
4. What were operative findings of exploratory surgery
5. Do you have repeated bouts of fever?

Awaiting your response

hi thanks for responding, I will try to answer as best as I can. I've had my belly button opens for numerous surgeries: laparoscopy for my cycle and cyst. gall bladder removal, I think for my obligation they did it too, and I think for my hysterectomy they cut my belly button too. I know I'm missing some surgeries but I can't remember
them..

when my belly button starts hurting and looking inflamed I do get some discharge like some clear yellow greenish. I bandaid it up and cake triple and triple antibacterial in it for a few days then it gets better. not
perfect but better,

Brief Answer:
To consider Atypical infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Dear Ms

As umbilicus has been utilised as site of entry for various surgeries, possibility of Port site Atypical infection needs to be considered.

I would consider possibility of Atypical Mycobacterium as likely cause for repeated infection at umbilical site. I would suggest to get Culture for atypical organism (Discharge should be sent for Culture) in consultation with your Physician.

Do keep me updated about development as it really helps us. Be in touch

Brief Answer:
To rule out atypical infection

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms,

Presence of Port site infection which is recurrent possibility of Atypical infection like Mycobacterium needs to be considered. I assume you are from western country, even in such scenario possibility of Atypical Mycobacterium needs to be considered. I have several colleagues who practise in US and have encountered such cases.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of retained suture material

Dear Ms

Other possibility could be a retained suture material causing foreign body reaction leading on to repeated infection.

Brief Answer:
Next possible cause is atypical infection

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms

If the possibility of foreign body in form of suture material has been ruled out then the next possible cause for such occurrence is atypical infection as previously suggested.
I would suggest you to get pus culture done.
