Question : I am feeling burning sensation while passing out stool and gas also after taking Pan 40 tablet when I get chemotherapy. Can I stop the tablet ? because my oncologist prescribed for 5 days in the 14 day cycle. My question is what causes the burning sensation whether due to chemo tablet capecitabine or any other reason
Brief Answer:
The chemo seems to be the cause

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I think that the chemo tablet capecitabine is the cause of the burning sensation while passing stool. The intestines are lined by rapidly dividing cells which can become the target of chemotherapeutic agents. This may lead to loss of the intestinal epithelial layer, thus exposing the nerve endings and thereby causing the burning sensation. Since the chemo is important, you would need to bear with it.
You may stop Pan 40 tablet if you want, but I would insist you to continue it. It helps in reducing the secretion of stomach acids.
