Question : I have burning and itching when I urinate. I had gone to my general physician and explained it to her. I told her I had increased fresh water drinking and cranberry juiced. I had also been taking Azo with no relief.
When she said let's do a urine test and that's all I was confused. It seemed to me she thought she was done until we wait a few minutes for the results. I asked her politely if maybe I should change into a gown so that she could examine my area and take some swabs. She said no. I was really pissed off, when I was younger and felt like that all my doctors insisted on dressing down and checking the area for redness or discharge Then they would swab me.
She came back a few minutes later and gave me a ten day antibiotic treatment. When the pills where done, I still was not totally well, and as the days passed by it started getting worse again. So now I have to find a GYN because my doctor does not want to put on gloves and swab me.
Now I think I have on top of the swelling I feel some bumps and when I wipe If I press to hard it bleeds a little bit. ANy suggestions?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Well, it is sad about what has already happened.
Now, you need to actually do the following -
1. Consult an OB - GYN.
2. Do NOT pop antibiotics without a urine culture test. A urine routine and microscopy test should be done to confirm infection, a urine culture should be done to know WHAT infection. Antibiotics are taken after the urine culture test.
3. Get a vaginal swab and culture.
4. Drink lots of water and cranberry juice.
5. Please upload pictures if possible about the bumps that you mention.
6. Get a Pap smear done if you are bleeding, even a little bit.
All the best
