Brief Answer:
Possibility of senile vaginitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

Burning and pain in the vaginal region can be due to infection.
However, at an age of 76 years, the possibility of senile vaginitis is more probable.
Bladder infection can lead to urinary tract infection and this infection can spread to reproductive tract also.
Routine urine examination and urine culture are the investigations which will detect infection in the urinary tract.
In case no significant infection is detected in urinary tract, senile vaginitis has to be considered.
Senile vaginitis is caused by fall in estrogens in body after menopause.
Lack of estrogens causes thinning of vaginal skin and thus irritation, dryness and pain.
Treatment of senile vaginitis consists of local application of estrogen cream/ ointment.
You need to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment and thus treatment.

Thanks and take care
