Brief Answer:
Cold weather can cause dryness; dry skin is prone to develop irritation

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have noted down the symptoms.

Cold and dry weather can cause skin dryness. Dry skin in turn can easily get irritated (and develop burning sensation) to cosmetics, shaving cream, aftershave lotion etc.
If it is too cold and damp, it can also give rise to a burning sensation on acral body parts like hands, feet, nose, ears etc. This is known as perniosis, however, there are red, tender and sometimes itchy skin lesions in perniosis.

I would like to know more from you regarding the query.

-How long do you have these complaints?
-Did you notice these symptoms with some product that you may be using on face?
-Is it too cold and damp at your place?
-Do you have lesion elsewhere?like hands and feet?

Regards

I am not using any thing on my face. No creams or harsh soap. just washing with warm water.

The weather is 39 degree Fahrenheit (4 degree Celsius) it is very chilly and cold inside home as well.

I feel burning on my hands so I applied cream and feel better, as it caused burning as soon as the cream hit my face but now feel better.

I don't have any lesion on any part of body. Do i need to look for something special ?

I have dry skin and I just shed skin.

I noticed it today.

Brief Answer:
I suggest you to use a bland moisturizing cream

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I think it is your dryness of skin that is responsible for these symptoms i.e burning sensation.

Moisturizing creams can also cause some initial irritation if used on skin that is already very dry.
In fact, if the skin is so dry using almost anything on it would cause irritation.

Even plain water, specially warm water can extract all moisture from skin and cause dryness, also complicated by cold and dry weather of winters.

I suggest you to use lukewarm water for face not warm water. You may either use a bland moisturizing cream like vaseline on face for a few days Or you may also mix an OTC topical steroid e.g cortisone (hydrocortisone 1%) with the moisturizing cream and use it twice daily.

Regards
