Brief Answer:
many possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
In order to sort this out you will need a physical exam and some blood tests. You may also need pulmonary function testing if the shortness of breath is prolonged. This could be anything from panic attacks to hyperthyroidism. Anything that stimulates the central nervous system can cause this type of symptom.
I advise you to see a doctor as soon as possible and in the meantime try the following things. Get rid of all stimulants such as soda, tea, coffee and tobacco. Get rid of all alcohol. Cut the processed sugars out of your diet and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Start a multivitamin and drink plenty of water daily.
I hope you get back to normal soon,
Dr. Robinson
