Brief Answer:
A correct diagnosis is necessary first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Pregabalin ( Lyrica ) is one of the first line treatment drugs about diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, so, your Doctor prescribed it for this reason.

Initial dosage is 50 mg three times a day for one week, it may be increased to 100 mgthree times a day.

Lyrica use can result in adverse effects too, in this case, if severe adverse effects, it should be stopped gradually.

Other drugs that may be used to treat diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain besides a correct control of diabetes, include antidepressants ( amytriptiline, sertraline, duloxetine etc.), and Gabapentin.

However, to be sure that your symptoms are caused mostly by diabetic neuropathy, other possible conditions such degenerative spine disease (lumbar spine stenosis, spondylolysthesis etc.) imaging studies of your lumbosacral spine ( X-rays, MRI ) are necessary.

Please discuss with your Doctor about above mentioned issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
